![]() Fans do spin up with exporting and processing to DNG, but everyday use is smooth and pretty frictionless. I have a 66k photo catalog with a mixture of Canon 5D, Panasonic GX1 and iphone (3G through to 8) photos. In my experience it has been rock solid for my use. This spec was pretty top end when I bought it refurbed in 2014 and actually faster than the 'new' 2014 edition which is a whole other story. I don't have the 2018 mac mini (although I intend to purchase one) so can only offer my experience of the past 4 years running Lightroom (up to 6.4) on a late 2012 mac mini with 2.6 ghz Core i7 and 8Gb ram. have just had to fold and go home with regard to those machines. I was very happy for many years getting the top of the line iMacs, but the new iMac Pro has priced me right out of the game. I am very afraid that will be the weak link in the chain and might cause me problems editing large image files. I am impressed with the stats (not price) of the new Mac mini, but with regard to the GPU I have no idea how to compare it to what I know. I therefore use the less (much less) powerful MacBook Pro for my photo workflow. However, I really despise working in the PC environment for my photo workflow. it won't even pause when I'm working on 30 layered Ps documents or merging stitched pano-hdr images. The PC I built myself last year, and it is a beast - overkill. I do my primary work with Lr and Ps on my Mac (MacBook Pro) - it's new but not even close to maxed out. I am certainly a heavy and long time user of Mac. ![]() ![]() The GPU is my biggest question right now. Use the Adjustment Brush or the Radial or Graduated Filters to define a rough mask, and then refine your selection using new Range Masking options.I couldn't agree more. ![]() Make precise color- and tone-based selections for local adjustments.
